Join us this October for Incider View, a scenic walk around Blackmoor Estate near Selborne. Sir Roundell Palmer, who became the 1st Earl of Selborne, created this pretty estate village in the late Victorian era. The family still owns and runs the estate, proudly growing both classic and new varieties of English apples, pears, and cherries. They also produce their own Gospel Green cider.
This six-mile walk blends the natural beauty and history of the Western Weald with the seasonal fruits and hues of autumn. While orchards dominate the landscape around Blackmoor, our route will also pass through rolling fields and by historic sites.
Want to learn more about the Blackmoor orchards or try some of their fruit, juice or cider, why not visit their shop/tap room or pencil in a visit to the annual Blackmoor Estate Apple Tasting Day. In 2025 this will be held on Sunday 12 October from 10-16.30.
RURAL STRIDES
Rural Strides is passionate about the rich history and cultural landscape of the Western Weald. Through our engaging guided walks, we bring the land to life. We interpret its stories, uncover its heritage, and reveal the character that makes this corner of the South Downs so special. Along the way, we introduce you to inspiring local businesses, each rooted in the community and landscape we share.
Our aim is simple: to create authentic, memorable experiences that connect you with the place and its people. By the end of a Rural Strides walk, you won’t just have explored the Western Weald, you’ll feel like a local.
