Although this is very much a picturesque, woodland walk, the chalk and cheese elements are the main attraction.
From the heart of this spring line village, we’ll be slowly climbing up the scarp slope of the Downs. Progress up this steep slope will be gradual, as we’ll be making stops along the way to explore how the village’s history is deeply tied to its position at the foot of the Downs. Once we reach the top, the walk descends (almost) all the way to the village of Chalton, where we’ll pause for an early picnic lunch.
After lunch, the walk continues with a gentle climb back up through the beech trees and conifers of Queen Elizabeth Country Park. But the most intriguing question remains—where will we find the cheese….and will it be edible?
